Self Confidence: The First Key to Success

Believe in yourself. If you don't, no one else will. Self confidence is first on my list of keys to success; because it is the foundation of all success, especially career success. Self confident people are optimistic. They face their fears and take action. They surround themselves with positive people.

Times are tough. We're in a global recession. Millions of people are losing their jobs and homes. The stock market has tumbled precipitously. 2008 will be remembered as a tough year. But that shouldn't stop you from believing in yourself.

Be Optimistic

A lot of people think that optimism is overrated. It isn't. You have to back up your optimism with hard work, but if you begin each day and each task with the idea that things will work out fine, it's easier to do the work to make them work out fine.

I live my life by the words in The Optimist Creed. I have given away several hundred copies of the creed. I love it for what the positive message it imparts.

Face Your Fears and Take Action

I know that beginning a career can be scary. You'll have many scary moments as you move forward. It's OK to be afraid, as long as you don't let your fear paralyze you. It is best to acknowledge your fear and then take an action to overcome it and achieve career success.

They will help build your self confidence which is vital in achieving career success. Negative people will drain your self confidence and drag you down with them.

Find a mentor, someone who is willing to help you and show you the ropes. By definition, mentors are positive people. They are willing to share their knowledge and experience to help others learn, grow and achieve career success.

As you get more experience become a mentor and help others achieve career success. Remember when you were starting out. Help others build their self confidence. It will keep you positive and feeling good about yourself.

Your flying fantasies

Recently one of my friends visited me. So he goes on saying that he is unsure what to do during his free time.

As I am the helping kind, I suggested him to take up a new Hobby!
(Clever hah...?)

Well, I didn't suggest him to collect stamps or go creative with his brush. I said him to get a radio controlled helicopter. I sure did the right thing though. This is the biggest craze, at least as far as I can see. I found it in a toy store and even a shopping TV channel.

So what's the big deal?
Unbelievably, in a couple of days my friend gets one to show me. He was fuming and I could see why. He didn't know to fly it. So I take the RC helicopter from him and then press this button.

There was this exact Mayday sequence from a movie. The Helicopter was rotating like crazy and then finally crashed. There was this small propeller at the back which came off and I was the first person to kick in under the couch. He then left as he could clearly see as I was no good. He could fly the thing better than me!

I still have this small propeller lying around. It won't be long enough for him to be back for it...

A new sign in the Bank Lobby read:

"Please note that this Bank is installing new Drive-through ATM machines enabling customers to withdraw cash without leaving their vehicles. Customers using this new facility are requested to use the procedures outlined below when accessing their accounts. After months of careful research, MALE and FEMALE procedures have been developed."

Please follow the appropriate steps for your gender:

MALE PROCEDURE

1. Drive up to the cash machine.
2. Put down your car window.
3. Insert card into machine and enter PIN.
4. Enter amount of cash required and withdraw.
5. Retrieve card, cash and receipt.
6. Put window up.
7. Drive off.

FEMALE PROCEDURE

1. Drive up to cash machine.
2. Reverse and back up the required amount to align car window with the machine.
3. Set parking brake, put the window down.
4. Find handbag, remove all contents on to passenger seat to locate card.
5. Tell person on cell phone you will call them back and hang up.
6. Attempt to insert card into machine.
7. Open car door to allow easier access to machine due to its excessive distance from the car.
8. Insert card.
9. Re-insert card the right way.
10. Dig through handbag to find diary with your PIN written on the inside back page.
11. Enter PIN.
12. Press cancel and re-enter correct PIN.
13. Enter amount of cash required.
14. Check makeup in rear view mirror.
15. Retrieve cash and receipt.
16. Empty handbag again to locate wallet and place cash inside.
17. Write debit amount in check register and place receipt in back of checkbook.
18. Re-check makeup.
19. Drive forward 2 feet.
20. Reverse back to cash machine.
21. Retrieve card.
22. Re-empty hand bag, locate card holder, and place card into the slot provided.

I love chatting! I get to meet the most interesting people and make the best friends. Though, there's a problem.

Most of my chats end up like this....

lol, they quit their Chat window. I mostly chat with my friends and love to make friends. But the people who chat with me are with weird usernames.

I find this guy, "backstabber". And then there is another from UK, "*****ngpython"(censored).
I hate to chat with such people as I feel that their username clearly shows their character in real life.

I'm not sure whether I do the write thing in judging people, but its always these people who start an IM rather than me starting one....

Hello Syndrome

I read about it in a book. I normally never do, but this time somehow I did! So there is this man, Joe Kita who talks about "Hello Syndrome". At first, I was like some boring mumbo-jumbo article. But as I read on, it was really good.

He tries to convey as to what the word "Hello" means, and what we take it for. According to Joe, he tries the "Hello Syndrome" for a month, wherein he greets everyone on the streets!

lol. That sounds crazy. Just think about it.

Hello, how are you doing Mr....... Mr....... , I am sorry I didn't get your name the last time we met!

Joe is really confident throughout his article. He says, "Friendliness is so rare nowadays, it's disarming."

From his article -
"People you wouldn't normally acknowledge turn out to be the friendliest. The gnarly, the dirty, the semi-strange … in other words, the people I'd normally avoid or not even notice were the ones who reacted the most warmly. No doubt it's because they're so accustomed to being ignored that any acknowledgment is akin to being feted at the Rotary."

Joe is right when he says - "You need to be careful around kids."
It's an unfortunate, but necessary, sign of our times that youngsters are instinctively wary of strangers. Next to motorists, 5- to 15-year-olds ignored me the most. Although that wasn't surprising, it did sadden and even scare me. To them I was a predator.

Finally after reading the whole thing, I went for it. In just one day I was back home and did not go out for a couple of days.

When I tried it - "Hello, how do you do?", I got many stares and some even ignored my greeting. There was this one guy who said - "Do I know you?"

I never got a chance to explain to him what I was doing, he was already at the end of the path. Believe me this is really hard.

Joe Kita says in his article, "It's not as easy as you think."

Drake & Josh

On a scale from 1 to 10, my wanting to see this show has always been 1. I used to love this program.

Drake & Josh first premiered on the Nickelodeon on January 11, 2004, that follows the lives of two step brothers Drake Parker(Drake Bell) and Josh Nichols(Josh Peck). Jonathan Goldstein plays their father, Nancy Sullivan as their mother and Miranda Cosgrove(Megan) plays their little sister. The show ran very successfully from January 2004 to September 2007.

All the episodes were amazing. There were over 60 episodes that came in 4 different seasons. The Season 1 and 2 had 6 and 14 episodes respectively that ran from January 11, 2004 to November 28, 2004. The next two seasons had 20 episodes each.

I used to love Drake and Josh and started seeing it from somewhere in the middle of the four seasons. Then, I got to see all of them on Nickelodeon(Now Nick), once again!

The characters acted amazingly in this story. The main characters were really brilliant.
Drake Parker(Drake Bell), the girl-crazy slacker who constantly causes his brother Josh pain and misery, often because they are faced with bizarre situations. But he is always there for Josh when he needs him the most!
Josh Nichols(Josh Peck), the hard working, responsible, and sometimes overreacting brother of Drake. Loves his brother very much.
Megan Parker(Miranda Cosgrove), the little sister of Drake and Josh. Megan is the primary actor of the show, where she pulls pranks on the brothers and cause them emotional and physical pain.
Walter Nichols(Jonathan Goldstein), the father of Josh and step-father of Drake and Megan. Working as a professional weatherman, Walter can be described as a clumsy, lame, and sometimes embarrassing dad towards his kids. He enjoys reading Fancy Cat magazines, fixing up the car, and giving somewhat practical advice to Drake and Josh.
Audrey Parker(Nancy Sullivan), mother of Drake and Megan and step-mother of Josh. She is a hard working mother and a very kind person. She is fairly strict towards her 3 kids when trouble arises and she does not let them get away with anything.

The main characters in Drake & Josh play a very Important role. But there are some supporting, recurring actors. They too made the show a real fun!
Helen Ophelia Dubois(Yvette Nicole Brown), the owner of the Premiere movie theater that Josh works at. She often favors Drake and not Josh, regardless of how hard working he is.
Mrs. Hayfer(Julia Duffy), Drake and Josh's English teacher who loathes Drake, but adores Josh.
Mindy Crenshaw(Allison Scagliotti), the know-it-all who had an on and off relationship with Josh and hates Drake.

After the huge success of the TV show, three movies were released. Drake & Josh Go Hollywood was aired on January 6, 2006.The story takes place in Los Angeles. Drake and Josh are asked by their parents to put Megan on a flight to Denver. But they accidentally, send her on a flight to Los Angeles. Later both the brothers go looking for her there when they are caught in a multi-billion dollar heist. This was the first movie that was followed by Drake & Josh: Really Big Shrimp and Merry Christmas, Drake and Josh that were aired on August 3, 2007 and December 5, 2008 respectively.

I have always loved this show and have seen all the episodes and the first movie. I am yet to see the other two!

Clouds - Art in the sky

I have always been amazed seeing them. Clouds are the most beautiful things according to me. Try this. Go outside on a sunny day and look at the clouds. They all make up faces and figures. When I was small, about 5 I used to make up stories. It would get better each time the clouds changed shapes. I would narrate a story to myself (Crazy times) . I used to wonder what they were made up of.

Once a very crazy thought struck me. All of a sudden, I started thinking the clouds were other countries. I assumed that there were people living on these white things. I still remember, I even answered that in class!!! lol

How can I think something like that??? I still wonder. Even today........

Will Wright's greatest success to date came as the original designer for The Sims games series which, as of 2008 is the best-selling PC game in history. The Sims, after its success was followed by another version. The Sims 2 hit the market next with an estimated sale of over 1,000,000 copies within three weeks. The Sims 2 was followed by many of its expansion packs. Within two years, there were over ten expansion packs. All these were additions to the Sims game with more Cities, Sims, Jobs and Houses.

On 19th March 2008, EA Games revealed its upcoming version. The Sims 3! On January 15, 2009, EA invited "some of the best" custom content creators to their campus at Redwood Shores where they were hosting a Creator’s Camp.The plan for the game was drawn and all the new features were discussed. The Sims 3 will be featuring hundreds of Sims with very different appearances. With lots of items to buy and many other advances in construction, it will take gaming to another level. The Sims 3 will allow you to create Sims with very unique personalities. You can make them Evil, Paranoid, Kleptomaniacs, Romantic or anything else. Customization will allow you to change everything from clothing to furniture. Also included is Exploring new locations. They include visiting a neighbor, going to the park and lots more.....

Laughter is said to be the best medicine. Well, I agree. But don't you think it is also the cheapest medicine known to man? Well, it does not cost you anything. It is basically an audible expression or appearance of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy. Laughter has a lot of science in it. The study of humor and laughter, and its psychological and physiological effects on the human body is called Gelotology. Well, who wants to know all that? In case you want to visit here. While shopping, my friend Andrew decided to give his six-year-old daughter Jessica a practical lesson in profit and loss. After buying a dozen bananas they chatted with Jessica's friend Miley, who they met at the market. Later Andrew asked Jessica, " We bought the bananas for $2. If we'd sold it to Miley for $3, what is it called?" "Cheating!" said Jessica.

Bobby asks his friend Lucy to help him with something. "I think the blinker signal on my car is broken," he says. "Stand behind the car. When I turn it on, tell me if the blinker's working." Lucy positions herself behind the car while Bobby gets in the driver's seat and switches on the blinker. "Is it working?" he yells. "Yes!" says Lucy. "No! Yes! No! Yes! No!"
